Intercontinental in French Polynesia goes vegan, opens new spa

Tapping into the current trend for veganism, The Brando resort invited chef Kelvin Au-Ieong from Montreal vegan bistro Invitation V to host vegan training at The Brando with the Intercontinental Hotels’ chefs and The Brando’s chefs. Creating innovative vegan recipes using local and organic products, chefs met with local suppliers and visited Papeete’s market & local farms before starting the five-day training session at the resort. For five days, the chefs from the Intercontinental hotels in French Polynesia and The Brando learned how to make tasty vegan dishes utilising local fruit and vegetables. Some of the recipes prepared included vegetable and avocado maki, lentil burger with barbecue sauce, vegetable curry in a coconut with a tamale, and pumpkin tartlet.

The Intercontinental Moorea Resort & Spa, meanwhile, has debuted its Deep Nature Spa. Solo visitors and couples alike can book a Polynesian massage, indulge in beauty treatments and enjoy a traditional open bath.
