Jing-an Shangri-La Welcomes New Chef de Cuisine

Now there’s another reason to visit Jing-an Shangri-La West Shanghai – the arrival of 1515 West Chophouse & Bar’s new chef de cuisine William Mahi, who promises to further enhance the steakhouse’s offerings with his creative menus.

Hailing from Pays Basques, Mahi has more than 20 years’ experience in the business and has worked with renowned Michelin-starred chefs including Alain Ducasse. The Frenchman has headed up kitchens in Beirut, Shanghai, Luxembourg, Istanbul and Athens, where he was the two Michelin-starred chef at Spondi Restaurant.

Much like an artist, he notes that each of his creations has to fulfil stringent criteria. It must be surprising, gorgeous, and elegant while also comforting and satisfying.
