Capella Sanya ups the luxury stakes on Hainan Island

Two of the world’s most celebrated hotel designers, Jean-Michel Gathy and Bill Bensley, have teamed up to work on what is being hailed as China’s most luxurious hotel, Capella Sanya. Set to open in the last quarter of 2018, the property is inspired by Chinese traders’ adventures along The Silk Road, and features 190 rooms, suites villas and many firsts including China’s first hammam and snow cabin spa. Accommodation choices include executive suites, two- to four-bedroom villas and a Presidential Suite within the Manor House, as well as five low-rise mansions. The hotel will be home to six restaurants, including a signature Chinese restaurant and noodle bar.
