Air New Zealand Embraces the Emoji

Air New Zealand has developed an interactive online experience enabling people to explore the best the country has to offer using emojis.

Users will be asked to comment on the experience using the hashtag #EmojiJourney on Facebook or Twitter posts with a combination of emojis that best describe their perfect New Zealand getaway. This will then automatically generate a link to a personalised map of New Zealand, with emojis highlighting points likely to be of interest to them.

Clicking on each of the emojis on the map provides more information about destinations and activities on offer, from skiing at Ruapehu to whale watching in Kaikoura. 

The #EmojiJourney experience will be progressively launched across Air New Zealand’s global markets in English, Japanese, German and Chinese. “We hope this new experience will not only inspire visitors to travel to New Zealand but also get Kiwis out exploring their own backyard,” says Air New Zealand’s general manager of global brand and content marketing, Jodi Williams.
