Six Senses Opens First Hotel in India

Slated to open in late 2018, Six Senses’ first Indian property, Fort Barwara in Rajasthan, will be located on the site of a 700-year-old fort once owned by the Rajasthani royal family. Sitting directly opposite the temple Chauth ka Barwara Mandir, conservation experts will aim to preserve and protect the original fort structure, which was constructed in the 14th century.
The 5.5 acre site is encircled by an imposing 1.5 metre thick rock wall that rises up to six metres in some sections. The key focus of the landscape concept is to reinterpret the regal ambiance experienced at Rajasthan’s royal forts and palaces. Rooted in the rich history of the fort, the design will include traditional gardens and water features. Shekhavati art will be used to depict the rich history of the fort in the landscape.
