Younger Generations Embrace Cruise Travel

The Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has discovered that a growing number of millennials and Generation Y travellers are taking to the seas for their holidays in its recent Cruise Travel Report.

Indeed, cruising has become the most popular travel preference among younger generations, including millennials, which has created a new cruise generation. This generation rates cruise travel as the best type of holiday compared to land-based holidays, all-inclusive resorts, tours, holiday home rentals, and camping. In addition, 90 percent that have experienced cruise travel say they will continue to cruise. The results also indicate that Generation X are becoming enthusiast cruisers.

Additional findings in the report state that42 percent of cruisers and non-cruisers agree that they go on holiday to see or do new things, while a third of other travellers (33 percent) look to relax and disconnect from their daily stressors. Nearly all (88 percent) of cruisers say cruises are better for total relaxation than land-based holidays.
