The Murray to Open in Hong Kong

Niccolo Hotels, in addition to announcing the renaming of its parent company to Wharf Hotels, used ILTM Asia to give exhibitors and media a sneak peak of the anticipated The Murray, the brand’s first hotel in Hong Kong.

Housed in an iconic building on Cotton Tree Drive, in the centre of the city, The Murray will be one of the few luxury hotels to open in the Fragrant Harbour in a decade. Set to open before the end of the year, the high-profile hotel will be the creation of British architecture firm Foster + Partners and will boast 336 spacious guest rooms and suites spanning 25 floors.

“The destination itself speaks volumes,” says managing director Duncan Palmer, during a press conference at ILTM Asia. “This hotel will be an icon for Hong Kong.”

Other facilities will include a stunning rooftop bar with breath-taking views of the central business district and the green oasis of Hong Kong Park; creative meeting and event spaces; and a series of signature restaurants and bars, including an outlet of acclaimed Chinese restaurant Guo Fu Lou.

Facing Champion Tower (formerly Citibank Tower), the restaurant will be situated within a two-storey pavilion adjacent to Cotton Tree Drive and across from the hotel's main entrance. Andre Fu, founder of award-winning AFSO design studio, has led the interior design team in creating the new 90-seat Guo Fu Lou, which features sensuous interiors and private dining rooms that can accommodate between 6 to 40 guests.
