An Icon is Born

Also exhibiting at this year’s ILTM Asia event was the Oetker Collection, which owns and manages some of the world’s finest hotels. The hotel group announced the opening of the new Palácio Tangará in Sao Paolo.

Located in the heart of Brazil’s commercial capital, in the city’s renowned Burle Marx Park, the Palácio Tangará offers 141 guestrooms – including 59 suites – all with beautiful views of the park.

Leading Brazilian designers William Simonato and Patricia Anastassiadis have created a distinctive design concept for each of the public areas, while world-renowned chef-restaurateur Jean-Georges Vongerichten will lead the hotel’s dining experiences, which will include signature Restaurant Tangara.

“We are indeed proud to partner with Jean-Georges one of the world’s most celebrated and accomplished chefs,” says Frank Marrenbach, CEO of the Oetker Collection. “His level of professionalism combined with his creative genius will for sure allow us to create exceptional culinary experiences for our guests throughout this extraordinary property, and will no doubt contribute significantly to the future success of the hotel and its positioning as an urban oasis in the heart of São Paulo.”

Jean-Georges owns and operates over 30 restaurants worldwide in cities including New York, Paris, Shanghai, Tokyo and Hong Kong. The partnership with Oetker Collection at Palácio Tangará will be his first venture in South America.

Palácio Tangará, which takes its name from the paradise ‘Tanager of Amazonia’ (Tangara Chilensis), a brilliantly multi-coloured songbird, also features nine private meeting rooms, including a ballroom for up to 530 guests with terraces overlooking the park. The fitness centre and spa have their own private garden, and complement indoor and outdoor swimming pools as well as a kid’s club.
