East Hotels Embrace Sustainable Produce

In line with its mission to be the leading sustainable development performer in its industry globally, Swire Hotels’ East Beijing is serving the Jane Goodall Low-Carbon Organic Yunnan coffee blend, a chemical-free cup brewed locally in China. A portion of proceeds from every cup sold is donated toward the Jane Goodall Institute in China, whose flagship programme, Roots and Shoots, promotes environmental protection and sustainability.


Other green commitments from the hotel include reducing paper waste with a paperless check in and check out, and supplying rooms with iPods loaded with information about the hotel and its surrounding areas.


Sister hotel East Hong Kong is likewise embracing sustainability with its urban garden project. Running the length of the outdoor pool, it houses pesticide and chemical-free herbs and vegetables including basil, chili, lemon, green beans and peppers that are utiliised at the hotel’s restaurant, Feast, and cocktail bar Sugar.
