New Indonesia Itineraries for Selective Asia

Selective Asia has expanded its portfolio of tailor-made holidays to Indonesia with the introduction of two new itineraries.

An Indonesia Adventure is a 13-day trip combining the island of Sumatra – home to one of the world’s richest eco-systems and orangutans - with Sumba, an island of ancient tribes and rituals. Accommodation is fairly basic on both islands so this trip is one for the more adventurous traveller who doesn’t mind compromising on comfort and luxury for a memorable experience.

The itinerary features stops in Medan and Bali (including a cycling tour of Ubud, the island’s artistic and cultural hub) as well as Bukit Lawang – deep in jungle terrain and a small town centred a former orang-utan rehabilitation centre and, today, offering opportunities to view the animals in their natural environment.

The 18-day Ultimate Indonesia does exactly what the title promises and offers, in the opinion of Selective Asia’s destination specialists - who continually travel extensively in the region - the very best of the sprawling network of thousands of volcanic islands. Kalimantan, Java, Bali and Komodo are packaged in one trip bursting with wildlife, culture, temples, mountains, adventure and beaches. It provides an ideal and in-depth introduction to Indonesia’s richly diverse attractions.

Highlights include three days each in Ubud and cruising on a private houseboat through the TanjungPuting National Park – a bio-diverse rainforest environment and a fantastic place to see orangutans - exploring the ancient Buddhist temple complex of Borobudur and Hindu temples of Prambanan before climbing Mount Bromo to witness a spectacular sunrise.

The trip finishes with some R&R in the Komodo National Park, where travellers can relax on pristine beaches, discover the array of marine life and, of course, meet the region’s most noted inhabitants – the Komodo dragon.

The Indonesia Adventure costs from GBP1,700 (US$2,428) per person and the Ultimate Indonesia from GBP2,641 (US$3,772). Both prices, which exclude flights, are based on two people travelling and staying in first class or best available accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis with transfers and the services of local guides and driver and private arrangements throughout.
