New Winter Menu at Spanish Favourite

Catalunya Hong Kong, one of the city’s leading modern Spanish restaurants, has introduced a stunning new winter menu to help travellers and locals alike fight off the fleeting winter chill.


With a new fine-dining direction that challenges conventions while pleasing palates, the new menu includes innovative bite-sized snacks like caramelized olives stuffed with anchovies and tapenade; Gillardeauoysters with ‘fake’ lemonagar jelly; and texturized Scandinavian salmon and codfish skins and wild pork skinfrom Estremadura, deep fried and served with horseradish and wasabi-infused mayo sauce and fish roe.


Tapas entrees include green asparagus royale with smoked Catalan anchovies and black olives from Aragon; delectable foie grasfrom Soulard in Bordeaux with sweet figs and Spanish Grand Reserva 100 percent extra maduraI berico ham, aged 48 months, on traditional Catalan crystal  bread served wafer thin; and Estrellados con Chorizo, a modern take on a typical Spanish estrellados, with Japanese egg, chorizo and – in a Hong Kong exclusive – potato paper.


Mains include bone marrow grilled on a Josper grill and topped with sea urchin; and duck Magret with caramelized pears served on gingerbread with a Picanha Catalan sauce of almonds, garlic, parsley and brandy, a classic Catalan combination. These hearty dishes are followed by a pre-desert ‘mojito’jelly with apple; and an apple éclair with apples roasted with sugar, cinnamon and muscatel wine, combined withIlyasava cheese cream, dried fruit, and almonds.


The new winter Tasting Menu is priced from HK$950 per person can be matched with either standard (HK$480) or premium (HK$680) wines, and complimented by a bottle of either Krug Grande Cuvee (HK$1,680) or Krug Rose (HK$2,680) champagne.
