Two Wheels, Two Islands

Asian cycling specialists Grasshopper Adventures will offer a new pioneering trip that perfectly explores Japan’s blend of traditional and modern.
The 14-day journey in April next year will travel into the cultural heartland of Honshu and the island of Shikoku. Designed to offer a real insight into the region that might not be possible with other forms of transport, the 832 km trip delves into traditional cultures and rich heritage that appear to blend seamlessly with today’s ultra sophisticated Japan.
Starting in Kyoto, the route takes in the cultural sites of the city before heading into the countryside and the holy mountain of Koya San. From there it’s a boat journey across the Seto Inland Sea to the island of Shikoku, with its many temples, beautiful coastline and stunning landscapes.
Returning to the mainland, by way of the amazing ShimanamiKaido, the 70km stretch of road and bridges that spans the Inland Sea between Imabari and Onomichi, the route ends in the city of Hiroshima.
Part of Grasshopper Adventures’ portfolio of pioneering trips, Stunning Shikoku is guaranteed to depart on April 16, 2016 with a maximum group size of 14 and will follow excellent terrain with smooth roads throughout and a mix of gradients. From GBP3,720 (US$5,725) per person.
