Rainforest Chic

Marriott International has just opened its first rainforest resort in the Asia-Pacific Region at Mulu in Sarawak, Malaysia. The 101-room Mulu Marriott Resort & Spa is the second Marriott property on the island of Borneo, and is perfectly positions to enjoy the untouched rainforests and the largest natural cave formations in the world that make up this Unesco-listed site.

Inspired by the Marriott Modern design philosophy the Mulu Marriott Resort & Spa draws inspiration from the alignment of the local long houses with its groups of rooms that are connected by wooden walkways, allowing guests to feel part of the surrounding rainforest and the adjacent Melinau River.

This newly enhanced resort – made over from an existing property – offers elegant, spacious rooms and suites with private balconies that showcase the scenic Melinau river and the rainforest. Rooms are decked out with a sophisticated design scheme and décor, and feature state-of-the-art facilities, while bathrooms feature Thann amenities.

Guests can unwind here with a host of wellness options, including an outdoor 15-metre lap pool, a fully-equipped gym, and the world-class Mandara Spa. The property also features the M-Café, which offers local and international dining, while the River Bar is a relaxing lounge ideal for enjoying locally-inspired cocktails and specialty drinks.
