New NYC Digs

New York City has a luxurious new house of slumber with this week’s opening of The New York Edition in the city’s NoMad district. Created by Ian Schrager and inspired by the city’s turn-of-the-century private clubs and the Gilded Age mansions of Fifth Avenue, the hotel is a timeless, simple and elegant property made to feel like a lavish private home.

The hotel boasts 273 sumptuous guest rooms rendered in Art Deco-inspired style with heavy lashings of heavy wood and bronze. Dark oak wood-panelled foyers give way to serene, comfortable retreats with sweeping views over Manhattan, along with massive white oak desks inspired by French interior designer Jean-Michel Frank, dark walnut headboards and bespoke walnut nightstands, signature imported linens, Beats Bluetooth speakers, and custom Le Labo bath amenities.

Amid Dutch Masters-inspired cibrant colours, restored plastic ceilings, velvet chairs and sofas, mahogany tables and custom dining chairs, guests can enjoy celebrity chef Jason Atherton’s inventive cuisine at the second-floor signature restaurant, which features three intimate dining rooms, a parlour with a billiard table, and a library serving cocktails and dessert.
