Historic Weekend Escape

Step back in time with the Journey to the Past package from X2 River Kwai, which includes accommodation, daily Champagne breakfast, a day trip to visit nearby attractions, including the Bridge over the River Kwai, the WWII museum, and the Don Rak War cemetery, as well as roundtrip transfers from Kanchanaburi train station.

Visit the real locations of the notorious Thai-Burma Railway, built during WWII when Japanese soldiers used the town as a base camp for POWs. The story was featured in the 1957 Hollywood movie The Bridge on the River Kwai, which won seven Academy Awards, and 2014’s The Railway Man. The province is also known for its natural attractions such as forests, mountains, caves, and waterfalls.

Guests may wish to travel by train from Bangkok along the famous railway to Kanchanburi town. The scenic journey takes around 2 hours 30 minutes from Thon Buri Station, Bangkok (near Sirirat Hospital) to Kanchanaburi Station, located next to the Bridge over the River Kwai. Train tickets can be booked at the train station on the day of travel. The package starts at THB5,098 (US$155) per night, twin share, and terms and conditions apply.
