Cruising Myanmar in Luxury

Luxury cruise and safari specialist Sanctuary Retreats is taking adventurous travellers to the emerging destination of Myanmar with the debut of the Sanctuary Ananda, the company’s custom-built all-suite ship. Named for the Ananda Temple in Bagan, the opulent river cruiser will kick-off its maiden voyage in Myanmar on November 15.

Designed by two Burmese brothers, the Sanctuary Ananda combines traditional materials and cutting-edge technology in its spacious 21 suites, each of which offer private balconies, WiFi, Egyptian-cotton sheets, and L’Occitane bath products. Outside the suites, a range of amenities are set to ensure guests are spoiled while onboard. Dedicated chefs use fresh local ingredients to create specially-crafted menus that cover a range of cuisines; afternoon tea at the elegant Kansai panorama lounge is the perfect mid-day break; while the Burma Bar is the best place to wind down from the day as you sip an expertly-mixed cocktail under the stars. Spend your time at sea lounging on the sprawling sundeck and its outdoor pool, or being pampered with soothing signature treatments at the Thambyadine Spa.

The Sanctuary Ananda will sail three, four, and seven-night itineraries on Myanmar’s Ayeyarwady river, and ten or 11-night cruises on the Chindwin River. To celebrate the launch of its new ship, Sanctuary Retreats is currently offering generous onboard credit packages which are valid for selected sailings in November and December.
