New Great Barrier Reef Hideaway

Located in the northernmost point of Australia’s Whitsunday Islands, in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef, is the newly-opened One & Only Hayman Island. Rooms here, designed in collaboration with Gold Coast-based firm DBI Design, are divided amongst four categories – the One & Only Hayman Wing; the Pool Wing; the Beach Wing; and the One & Only Hayman Penthouses – but all are opulent while drawing on their natural surrounds, and are nestled amongst expansive pools, lush gardens, and pristine white beaches. The top suite however, is the luxurious, fanciful 160sqm Two Bedroom Diane von Furstenburg Penthouse which features heavy touches of the designer’s well-known aesthetic, along with an open bar and butler service.

Guests are spoilt for choice when it comes to dining, with five distinctive restaurants on-site. The resort’s signature Fire restaurant serves Australian-influenced haute cuisine; Pacific offers a bountiful Sunday brunch; Amici is the resort’s authentic Italian eatery; while Bamboo dishes up a wide variety of Asian fare. Guests looking for more exclusive culinary experiences can take advantage of the myriad private dining options, or The Chef’s Table, the signature gourmet experience.

Away from their rooms and culinary indulgences, guests can take enjoy the host of other amenities the resort offers. Water sports lead the roster of activities here, and guests can choose to dive, snorkel, fish, sail, kayak, water-ski, or even try helicopter or seaplane adventures. For those seeking respite, the One and Only Spa boasts a full range of traditional and modern wellness rituals, including several signature journeys; a hair salon using exclusive products by Aveda, TRX training classes, a driving range, and the Aquazure pool, flanked by cabanas and daybeds, round out the offerings.
