Bale Udang has opened its newest Indonesian restaurant in Bali’s spiritual capital, Ubud. Bale Udang opened its first restaurant in 2009, an authentic Indonesian restaurant that has become a culinary icon on Bali ever since. The new restaurant follows the sucsessful opening of Bale Udang Kuta, and presents a distinctive Indonesian cuisine, with local favourites like Udang Bakar Madu, Sup Kelapa Udang, and Gurame Bumbu Cobek all available. Surrounded by a vast fish pond and serenaded by the sound of splashing water and instrumental music, the restaurant is a far cry for the crowds of the island’s southeast; at lunch guests are treated to stunning views across rice fields to the island’s central peaks. The new space also incorporates a garden deck, a floating deck, a main hall, a musholla, and souvenir shop, as well as a small snack corner for travellers passing through. www.baleudang.com.
