Melbourne’s Iconic Windsor Hotel to Hold City’s First Cuban Art Festival

Melbourne’s legendary Windsor Hotel has teamed up with the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba for a unique Cuban Arts Festival. The exciting event will be a celebration of Cuban culture, and will be held between 4 and 9 November.

The highlight of the Cuban Arts Festival will be an art exhibition featuring 23 pieces by some of the island’s most celebrated artists. Expect vibrant canvases by Nelson Dominguez, Ileana Mulet Batista, Jesús Nodarse Valdés, Yuri Santana, Sandor Gonzalez, and Angel Ramirez. The artwork will be  display daily at The Windsor’s Wallis and Ed function rooms from 5pm, and 22 of the works will be available for sale. As well as the artwork on display, the festival will also feature Cuban music and dancing, Cuban food, and a selection of the finest Cuban rums.  The week-long event will be the most significant celebration of Cuban culture to ever be held in Melbourne.

Of the art exhibition, Cuban Ambassador to Australia, His Excellency Pedro Monzon said “This exhibition is very significant and highlights the work of a new generation of Cuban artists, many of whom are celebrated internationally. It showcases the vibrancy, diversity, strong national identity and immense richness of expression that is Cuban art, and speaks of a very real and living visual arts culture.
