Peru Pow Wow

The largest food festival in Latin America will be slicing, dicing, baking, barbequing and revelling all things food for ten days this September, as farmers, chefs, confectioners, food lovers and culinary experts descend on Peru for the annual gastronomic festival, Mistura.

Held in Peru's culinary capital Lima from September 6-15,2013, the event will bring together leading chefs and thousands of foodies from around the world in a celebration of Peruvian culinary traditions and diversity.

Last year's festivities, focused around ancient Andean grains, attracted over 600,000 people. Now in its 6th year, Mistura 2013 will have a water and marine theme with seafood and small-scale fishing taking pride of place.

Dedicated themed corners will also highlight the country's world-renowned produce: bread, coffee, chocolate and of course Peru's flagship liquor, Pisco.

Visitors will have the opportunity to sample and savour local specialties from an array of street food and restaurant stands. The festival's Grand Market alone will showcase the fruits of the Pachamama (Mother Earth) from more than 250 producers.

Celebrated to the rhythm of music and dance, this cultural feast has a party atmosphere that features cultural performances in addition to cooking demonstrations and seminars. In addition, look out for great dining deals on September 4 as Mistura coincides with the launch of Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants list.
