Orient Express Announce First Orient-Express Associate Hotel

Introducing the new partnership with like-minded and independent luxury hotels, Orient-Express has named the 154-room former palace Hôtel du Palais in France as the group’s first Associate Hotel. Cradled by the beaches of Biarritz for almost 120 years, the palace was originally commissioned by the wife of Napoleon III to establish Biarritz as “the queen of resorts and a resort for kings”.

Rooms and suites reflect the ‘belle époque’ era in which the hotel was born, and are fitted with Burmese teak, Carrara marble and Italian glass mosaics. Antique furniture, turn-of-the-century Lalique-style lamps, and gilded cabinets and chandeliers feature throughout and in an authentic touch, all fabrics and upholstery at Hôtel du Palais are individually designed and produced by hand in the hotel’s very own workshop.

Hôtel du Palais is home to one Michelin starred Villa Eugenie, which serves rich French cuisine featuring locally caught seafood and regional produce. The hotel takes wellness very seriously and this is reflected in its comprehensive five story spa.

While exhibiting at ILTM Asia 2013, Orient-Express took the opportunity to inform buyers and the media of the new Orient-Express Associate Hotels programme, where carefully selected independently owned or managed luxury hotels who wish to preserve their established individual brand reputation, will have access to Orient-Express’ extensive sales, public relations and marketing support.
