Ice Cold Adventure

This February up to 50 mushers and their canine teams will embark on the 30th running of the 1,000-mile Yukon Quest race from Fairbanks to Whitehorse, Yukon, one of the world's most iconic and most challenging sled race and a massive tourism draw card for the region. During the 2013 race, which alternates start and finish points each year, teams will gather at the starting line in Whitehorse, Yukon, and traverse 1,000 miles of harsh, frozen terrain along the same historical mail delivery and gold-rush-era routes prospectors took from the late 1800s into the early 20th century. Avid Yukon Quest fans can follow teams' progress as they pass through 10 checkpoints along the way before reaching the finish line in Fairbanks around February 16. If you love the snow and revel in the cold weather, this is one must-try event. More information about anniversary events, the race, the mushers and their teams or to see past results, visit the Yukon Quest website.
