Humping in Style

If you're looking for a unique way to view the annual humpback migrations down Australia's east coast, Newcastle Helicopters are offering Heli-Humpback flights in search of humpback and southern right whales off the coast of Nelson Bay.
“Seeing the whales from the air is a truly unique experience, while taking in the breathtaking coastline and beaches surrounding both sides of the Nelson Bay Peninsula,” says James Guest, director of Newcastle Helicopters. “Our Heli-Humpback flights are the ultimate way to experience one of Australia’s most incredible, natural tourist attractions and make for a fantastic family activity or gift for someone special.”
In close consultation with NSW National Parks, Newcastle Helicopters adheres to all whale-watching guidelines ensuring a safe distance is maintained from the whales whilst maximising the view for passengers. In addition, whale spotters are dispatched each morning to maximise whale sightings during the Heli-Humpback flights.
Priced from AU$250 per person, each Heli-Humpback charter is conducted with a luxury turbine engine Eurocopter Squirrel AS350 helicopter, which seats up to five people. Flights depart from both Newcastle Helicopter bases – the Nelson Bay HeliPad in the heart of Port Stephens and Williamtown at Newcastle Airport, everyday of the week provided minimum numbers are fulfilled.
